  • Overview

    Under direction of Tooling Manager, using standard processes and continuous improvements, the tool and die team member is responsible for the daily maintenance, upkeep and repair all dies on the plant floor. Team Member is expected to maintain and care for the dies so that they are always in proper working condition; Analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools.


    1. Responsible for the repair, setup, cleaning, and troubleshooting of production dies, tooling and equipment.
    2. Work with the production department with all tooling issues.
    3. Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
    4. Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
    5. Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
    6. File, grind, shim, and adjust different parts to properly fit them together.
    7. Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
    8. Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; make adjustments as necessary
    9. Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
    10. Smooth and polish flat and contoured surfaces of parts or tools, using scrapers, abrasive stones, files, emery cloths, or power grinders.
    11. Cut, shape, and trim blanks or blocks to specified lengths or shapes, using power saws, power shears, rules, and hand tools.
    12. Responsible for correct inventory, and parts needed for tool repair and maintenance.
    13. Initiate and conduct preventative maintenance on all dies.
    14. Requires upkeep of work required, last piece off each die, first piece off each die, and maintain die log book for each die.
    15. Operates all machinery and equipment in a safe manner.
    16. Fills out documentation as required.
    17. Responsible for keeping work area clean and orderly.
    18. Follows work instructions and procedures.
    19. Perform various other duties as assigned under direction of the Tooling Manager.


    Basic Responsibilities for all Anaco Team Members:


    1. Promoting and implementing the environmental, health and safety prevention loss policy and ensuring environmental and health and safety policy goals are met.
    2. Report any and all accidents/incidents to supervisor
    3. Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as: Safety Glasses, Ear Plugs, Steel Toe Shoes or Steel Toe Shoes with Metatarsal Guard based on assigned department.
    4. Communicate issues regarding equipment, products, production and PPE to supervisor.



    Must be flexible, Self-motivated; a team player and communicate well with others.

    3. Able to use hand tools, gauges, dials and/or other indicators to make sure machines are working properly
    4. Mechanically inclined
    5. High experience with mills, lathes, die grinder, surface grinder, and other tool and die
    6. equipment
    7. High attention to detail ; problem solving skills and deductive reasoning
    8. Able to read work orders and blueprints
    9. Ability to stand for periods more than 8 hours.
    10. Repetitive grasping and gripping with hands.
    11. Regularly required to bend, lift, push and pull up to 60 pounds unassisted.
